This is the vise I use (Ken) and anyone who knows me understands that I recommend this.  All the hooey about how it looks and that it is different cannot detract from the fact that you can tie better flies faster is undenyable.  Once you combine this true rotary instrument with a Nor-bobbin, your productivity goes up geometrically.  So many mundane actions of fly tying are improved with the Norvise system that it is worth the additional time up front to learn to use these tools.

The Nor-Vise is normally provided with “Small In-Line Jaws” and includes a matching Thread Post, Mounting Bolts, Operating and Set-up instructions, Allan Wrench, and a hour long professionally produced instructional video.

Centerline Concept

The Nor-Vise Concept is to position the hook on the centerline of rotation and then turn the hook rather than wrap hand over hand around the hook. A thread post, aligned with the center of rotation, permits material to be “turned” or “spun” onto the hook without the the tying thread being wrapped on at the same time.

Precision ball bearing and heavy brass hubs enable the Nor-Vise to work like a spinning wheel for dubbing like you have never seen before. Perfectly shaped and textured bodies, with all dubbing material, can be created, without wax better, faster and much easier than by any other method.

The Nor-Vise system will accommodate a variety of jaw designs that can be quickly and easily mounted onto the vise arbor. Although all four of the different configurations handle nearly any fly tying situation, from very tiny and delicate trout flies to large saltwater patterns, these different designs each excel in certain applications.

The new “Adjustable” Nor-Vise is identical to the “Standard Version” except both the Vise and Thread Post may be raised (up to 5”) and rotated (360°) which is very useful for detail and intricate work, especially for woven or braided bodies.

Although the Adjustable version of the Nor-Vise is normally provided with “Small In-Line Jaws”, all the other Jaw Designs (Conversions) will work just fine with it.
