The morning was cold and foggy and cold. Cold hands make tying on flies tougher and releasing a trout with your hands in the water doesn't help. So I am cold, which limited my outing this morning. Still, eggs and leafhoppers were the ticket again today. Two trout on each in a section of the White Clay Creek, a Delaware river, in the DH section in PA. The water temp has fallen a few degrees to 53, and the air temp caused ice in the guides again today. There are plenty of trout holding tight to the rocky areas, I scared a mess of them walking out today. The leaf litter accumulations are creating "leaf mat cover" - new holding water for these newly stocked trout. If you can get a drift under one you get a trout (two this morning). With the pending storm forecast this weekend, we should see some new stream conditions come Monday.
