Fishing reports keep trickling in. One thread that I keep seeing is that patterns with marabou often win the day. These can be the all-familiar wooly bugger, but also marabou clousers, muddlers, ghosts, and emergers. Both brownies and rainbows with take these flies, in contrast to some other patterns that one or the other clearly have a preference for. Other species (smallies and related panfish and carp are also in love with this feather. Always have a few patterns with marabou in your box. (Hint: My favorite summer marabou colors are tan, cream, blonde, grizzly, mottlebou brown, burnt orange or a combnation thereof).
