I saw some nice trout while walking the east path below Good Hope Road on the White Clay Creek, a Delaware river in the White Clay Creek Preserve in PA this morning. I fished upstream from the stocking point above parkking lot 2 and caught a 16" rainbow and a 10 inch brown on a size 4 dark edson tiger streamer. I also captured a few small fry that had a yellow cast to their scale sides and that prompted my use of the streamer today. Other representative imitations that might work would be a mickey finn or golden darter. Don't be afraid of offering up a larger streamer because as the fall progress the fish cannot pass up a big protein offering. Just before I got to the car I picked off another small brown with beautiful colors on a size 16 olive caddis. The cool nights are having a positive effect on the water temp - today 66 degrees. If we can get a little rain and get the stream level up slightly we should have a temendous fall.
