The reports received from three fishers indicates that very few areas have open water on the White Clay Creek in both Delaware and PA. With todays snow cover it is hard to tell where the ice ends and open water begins. Extreme care must be taken if you dare to get out on the ice. Wear your korkers or studded shoes as the rocky shore areas are slippery and ice covered. Inspect your fly line for cuts and cracks after you do a winter outing. Your reel is likely to freeze if it gets water logged so an inspection of the drag system should be done also. Therei s a warming trend forecast for the upcoming weekend so maybe we can get some open water to fly fish.
