I have to apologize to those of you following the WCC blog.....the host of my site had done maintenance over the weekend and caused some issues that are now resolved - all the server error messages should be resolved and we are back up.  The White Clay Creek , a Delaware and PA River which has been in a blown out state since the rain event this weekend is just starting to recover.  I am embarased to report a swimming event for me on Tuesday.  When the stream gets the color of chocolate, you need to wade carefully or swim - which I did.  The fish have been targeting streamers offered on the swing.  Edson tiger dark size 12, hornberg, and grey ghost all took fish.  This morning a size 20 PT seemed to attract a few rainbows.  More tomorrow.

Once more on the DH in PA on the White Clay Creek.....The fish are starting to recognize food and they are willing to hit small nymphs dead drifted near the bottom.  This morning it was a PT flashback size 16.  All rainbows today - stockers from prior week.  Reports from DE indicate that the fly stretch is showing well with catches including tiger's over the past few days!

Gave the White Clay Creek , a Delaware River in PA a shot this afternoon.  The water was fast and a bit dirty from the event on Sat night but a olive and grey ghost streamer took two fish.  A nice caddis hatch was happening with no visible takers on the surface.

Fished the bait section in DE today - below Hopkins Rd bridge.  Three of us managed two fish after covering the territory down to within site of Wedgewood falls.  One on a san juan worm, one on an english wet fly pattern thanks to Joe A .Reports from the stocking crew indicated over two hundred floated in this section.  Get after them!

Waders repaired and a nice temperate morning with a few stockers made the day a success.  Had to get to the shop for an early morning rod class, so I had only an hour or so to test the wader repair and give the fish a few sore lips.  Made a return trip to Creek Rd and had success with a PT size 18/20 drifted under some debris.

I fished the WCC in DE  below Wedgewood with my friend Ed G. Ed managed at least two of the golden trout recently stocked as well as a few more.  I managed a creek chub.  My waders are leaking from a slide down a steep bank and I was wet through and through.  Not so nice as the water was 50 degrees this morning at 7:45 am.  Better luck tomorrow after a good dose of aqua-seal.  Try a san juan worm in blood red or an egg pattern in orange.

Water temp was down as the cold air and run off from the ground has dropped stream temps almost four degrees in three days.  The water was still tinged and a little higher than normal.  Leaf litter everywhere making it a strategic casting game to find open water.  The fish have started to eat naturals and a PT flashback bead head was the best fly today.  Took a few fish on leaf hopper dry - cast into the leaf mess.

The water was high and dirty and the fish are spread out by the runoff and are holding in protected places. Both the WC in DE and PA are fishing well with a variety of fish available.  Try fishing the edges during these conditions.

Both DE & PA have received their fall stocking.  Nasty weather and a morning class kept me off the stream today.  See you tomorrow morning if the rain and run off haven't blown out the creek.

Yes it was cold and rainy and the leaves were falling and the fish were difficult.  Streamers and crane flies seem to be the only flies working for me.  A report from a customer Steve S indicated success with a crane fly dry and a golden retriever yesterday.  Lots of fish to be had this fall.
