I was unable to fish this morning but I received the following report from Jim D

12/29/2008 12:00pm to 4:30pm - Report for White Clay Good Hope Rd Delayed Harvest stretch: Fished from the Bridge down to the only hole with a tree hanging across. Hit every pocket with black stonefly (dry), black marabou streamer, and golden egg fly, picked up (2) nice browns on the "golden egg" after missing several on the streamer. Nice day to be out. Hope to get out again later today and again tomorrow before the Rose Bowl!!!! LET'S GO STATE!!!!! -Jim D.

Met with Dick P & Clyde S on the White Clay Creek in PA today.  We fished a section of the DH with only marginal success.  I managed a nice brown about 14" on an olive caddis emerger with one of the new gold tungsten nymph heads.  Dick had several strikes but no hook ups.  I directed Clyde to a nice hole but never made it back to see how he did.  Looks like maybe one more nice day before the cold weather is on us again.  Water temp was 40 degrees this morning - up slightly from the past week.

Good Morning WCO.  Just a quick note here to let you know that on Sunday evening my nephew was in town.  He stopped by and we went online and bought a 1 day fishing license for PA.  As soon as the transaction completed, it started to rain.  We proceeded to the London tract bridge anyway.  The weather was definitely grey.  It stopped raining so we put in upstream of the bridge and worked the drift down to the bridge.  Visibility was poor, we didn't see any fish, but I knew they were there somewhere.  There were 3 of us, all working different flys.  We worked our way down to the "mudhole" with no luck.  We were as stealthy as 3 people can be, but no luck.  We all changed up flys, and tried something different.  I was the first to get lucky.  I hooked up with a 12" or so rainbow on a beaded egg.  A few minu ... It always feels like a Monday after a holiday.  It was a cold Friday though.  Some of the anchor ice was back.  Water temp was 37 degrees at 7:45 am, but it didn't deter the fish.  They were eating olive caddis emergers fished deep.  A grey ghost and dark edson tiger streamer also produced fish this morning.  Move the streamers fast with that herky jerky motion that the fish can't resist.  All browns this morning in the vacinity of the London Tract Bridge in PA on the White Clay Creek , a wild and scenic national river in PA  and a Delaware River in the preserve.

Just got a new report that yellow and green streamers produced some nice fish for my friend Jack H.  He let them swing into position and twitched them until he had a "fish on".

Morning guys,

I hope you had a great Christmas.  I started the day off great.  I was up early and decided to hit the water.I went out to Good Hope Road, and since I have had some recent success with egg patterns, that's what I started with.  After about 15-20 minutes of hitting some very nice drifts without so much as a nibble I switched over to a nymph.  2nd drift through the same area netted me a very nice 12-13 inch rainbow.  2 drifts later, I was lucky enough to land a very nice Brown, about 11 inches or so.  2 casts later, I managed to s ... Good Fishing Today. Delayed Harvest Area between the two bridges. 2 Fat Rainbows
and lost a few. Met another fly fisher today, names Jack. Great guy, he was doing
very well on Browns and Rainbows nymphing and I was throwing a Streamer most of
the time. The water conditions are just right now and there' s many holding areas for the trout to spend the winter.

Today the air temp was 24 degrees twice as warm as yesterday - a variable heat wave.  The fish still seem hungary and a black hare's ear, a tan hare's ear and an olive hare's ear all took fish today.  Cold feet literally ran me off the stream before 9:00 am but not before I got a water temp of 37 degrees. The weather channel showed a continued warming trend into the 40's into Christmas day, so if you want to tempt the elements, get out there and try a hare's ear.  The best fishing cycles are also showing mid day, so that may be the best time to try your luck.

Went out to fish this morning - a mistake. I just couldn't stand to miss a nice day on the stream.  Very cold and ice was forming on the edges of the stream, and in the guides on my rod and on my nose.  Got one fish under the London Tract Bridge.  Also got frozen shoe laces - just too cold. Water was 37 degrees out in the middle of the White Clay Creek.

I went out Sunday morning around 8:30 am,,,, after creeping down the road on the
ice, all the way from home to Good Hope,, I was happy to walk in and see a
fellow fly fisherman landing a nice brown. I fished down just a few holes with
only my trusty black-over-brown (no flash) marabou streamer with no takers. On
my way back to the car, I decided to make a few more casts and had an
interesting duel with a very persistent brown trout!! He hit my streamer 3
times in 7 seven casts and got off all 3 times.... I finally hooked him and
brought him to hand around the 10th cast!! Now, that's what I call fun!!!

Pretty cool when you leave home with just one fly and end the trip with a cool
experience like that!!

Once again, the water was cold and slightly stained,, perfect for the streamer!!
Now, on to battle the crowds at the mall.... grrrr... just ...
