Tried at the end of creek road in Newark, in the White Clay Creek , a Delaware, River.  I found the fish all crowded in two pools and eager to hit that gaudy orange steely stone fly nymph.  They were mixed in with some smallmouth, which fell for a well placed black woolly bugger w/red flash lateral line.  Water temp was 54 degrees today at 7:15 am.  The misty fog conditions allowed for a closer approach today.  With all that rain yesterday the stream was surprizingly clear.  I will be fishing some exotic venues for the next few days so this blog will be updated upon my return.  Get out there. The fish are calling!

Fished below Wedgewood Road and I managed to avoid getting drenched but I also caught no fish.  I just got skunked.

Yeah ice was forming on the guides this morning but I toughed it out.  The water temp had fallen to 52 degrees this morning at 7:30 am.  The fish were lathargic too. Twenty nine degree air temp made me a little slow too.   I managed to catch one rainbow about 16" on an orange steely flashback stonefly/nymph attractor pattern.  The fish were there cause I could see them, but they just wouldn't move to the offering.  The work on the footbridge on creek road was progressing as I left today and the workers were attempting to drill and place rebar with very poor success.  They were cold too. I saw no other fishers today.  All a bunch of pansies.  They need to stop at the shop and get some of the great buys we have on base wear and fleece!

Tried my luck on the White Clay Creek, a Delaware River, along Creek road in Newark today.  It was confirmed that about 300 fish were stocked in this section by Delaware Trout Assn.  I was able to fool four fish - one about 17" while wading the stretch above Dam 2. A few other fishers were spinning the section too and they had some nice sized fish on stringers.  Hot fly today was an orange steely stone and a yellow egg with blood dot.  Water temp was 54 today.  Saw no surface activity but leaves were still blowing down.

Participated in the White Clay Fly Fishers outing on the Octoraro Creek, in PA this morning.  G & I hit a hole close to the parking area on Puseyville Rd. and managed a smalltrout and a fall fish.  He used a custom tied flash royal wulff and I used a cased caddis.  The rest of the club results are still out there, but Rick D reported three nice trout (and has some pix to prove it)!  Back to the White Clay tomorrow.

Fished my favorite stretch below London Tract Road today in the mist and drizzle. I managed two trout on leaf hoppers today. Both were rainbows.  Water temp was 56 degrees this morning and while the rain caused me to have to keep cleaning my glasses the day began with a great start.  My friend Marc stopped by the store this morning to report he caught two nice browns ( saw one on his phone camera).  He picked one up with a large dry - Gray Wulff!.  Not typical but effective.  I also was told that the fish magnet Dave T. was seen fishing that same beat below the confluence.  That can only mean that the fish have sore faces.  The White Clay Creek is still producing nicely so get out and fish.  Stop by the shop for the hot fly and information on other locations that are producing.

I fished at London Tract Bridge this morning on my way to the Bi-State Advisory Council for the White Clay Creek Preserve meeting.  Managed just one trout on a pheasant tail wet fly.  The wind was picking up and the leaves were falling gracefully on top of my fly line drifts and the fishing was tough.  I did hear that Delaware Trout association was stocking fish in Delaware later in the week though. More on that as information becomes available. Looking forward to this rain event to bring down additional leaf fall so we can have some unincumbered fishing.

Just so you know I voted to fish first,  and then cast my ballot.  Spent about 1 1/2 hours at London Tract Bridge and the water upstream from the bridge.  It is amazing how clear the creek is even with all the leaf litter evident.  I only managed one trout- a small brown on my old go to fly - Dark Edson Tiger streamer.  I did however catch a number of small mouth today in the rocky section just below the rock chute across from parking lot #3.  Those fisty little smallies wanted a partridge and orange, partridge and yellow and pheasant tail soft hackle trio that I has strung bend to eye.  IMHO, if you aren't fishing droppers and multiple flies you are missing out on a more productive way to figure out what the fish may want. Just ease up on your casting "snap" and open up that loop and you have no issue with tangling.

Started half way down from Good Hope Road and fished to parking lot #3 on the White Clay Creek , in the White Clay Preserve in PA.  The water was still 55 degrees and the morning air matched the water.  I managed to fool three trout - all rainbows on Black ghost streamers by fishing "rock targets" and just annoyin g the trout into striking.  Just waggle that streamer in front or alongside a big rock and hold on.  Customers also indicated some action in the White Clay FFO stretch in Delaware using a version of a wooly worm fished dry (Sean's orange butt variation).  Lots of fish showing themselves but they are being pretty finicky.  Had reports of nice action in the Big Elk south of Rt 273 also.  No hot fly reported - sorry!
