....More than just a fly shop

News & Announcements
Shopping Cart is open - Wednesday, November 12, 2008

You asked for it and we have finally put it together - the long awaited shopping cart.  White Clay Outfitters has a nice selection of items for sales over the web.  When you are done shopping you will get an order number and a follow-up phone call from Doug or Ken to confirm your order,  and we will accept your payment options at that time.  You will know what items you are paying for and will receive so if there is a backorder you will be aware of that.  We have worked hard to make the offerings unique and of great value.  Thank you for your patience and patronage.

The new look - WCO web site - Friday, October 10, 2008

I hope you are all enjoying the new look of our web site.  Please understand that there a few items we need to "clean up".  As I handle these chores,  know that if you have trouble reading the most recent blogs you can just highlight the lettering and see it in vivid blue - making it much easier to read.  I am addressing this color issue and will have it resolved shortly.  Thanks for your understanding.

Delaware Fishing the White Clay Creek

Flyfishing the Delaware sections of the White Clay Creek are not confined to the fly fishing only section of the creek in Delaware's White Clay Creek Preserve above Chambers Rock Road.  Excellent fishing is done in the "bait" sections by fly rodders from the fly section to and below Hopkins Road.

Delaware fishing is also good at several of the dam locations and fly fishers have great success throwing flies in these areas.  Tying flies, flyfishing your own flies and taking advantage of the opportunities fishing Delaware within the White Clay Creek can be an adventure.  Although some sections of the creek are more urban, like those behind Cleveland Avenues' car malls, sections from Perkin's to Windy Hills hold promise.  Some stream bank construction has improved Delaware fishing in the White Clay Creek where the stream parallels Kirkwood Highway.

Delaware fishing is improving all along the White Clay Creek out to the Christina.  Unfortunately the sewage release this past spring that caused a large fish kill has ruined Delaware fishing in that area.  Restocking should be the responsibility of the polluting owner, although none is planned at this writing. Delaware fishing in the White Clay Creek will be rejuvinated with the fall stocking planned for October. and the fly fishing section only will benefit from wash downs from PA.
